New Oregon Arts & Letters and some of our core contributors have been popping up in local media lately. We're pleased and flattered! The subject of Portland's creative culture seems to be hot again, too. Here are some links, and do feel free to join in the blog comment conversations on these pieces, as many of them involve the arts and creative culture as a whole... which are not universally popular in these parts.
Plus: links to upcoming art/culture discussions + audio snippets from recent interviews. Keep on readin' this post for more.
07/07/2009: Our director, Tiffany Lee Brown (photo left) wrote a piece for the front page of the Opinion section of the Sunday Oregonian. Check out the online version right here.
06/29/2009: More love from The O! Barry Johnson wrote up the first live interview session of New Oregon Interview Series, initiated and hosted by Nora Robertson (photo left, seated at right). Front page of the Living section: yay! Online here.
07/01/2009: Nothing to do with us, but interesting: Oregon Public Broadcasting's Think Out Loud call-in show featured "world-class arts" and a general discussion of whether or not Oregon should bother to worry about funding arts and culture. (I say: Let them eat cake!) OPB radio download here and good online discussion about this at Artswatch.
06/2009: We got previews and props from Willamette Week and The Oregonian, among others, for our presentations Light & Shadows (at Yoga Shala of Portland) and a session of the ongoing The Easter Island Project (at Performance Works NW). Again: can we get a "yay"? Yay! and maybe a "Yea," too.)

WHAT'S A PORTLAND CONVERSATION?

We here at New Oregon Central Agency Headquarters in Langley, Virginia, plan to infiltrate this new mystery magazine and report back.
