IPRC'S 3RD ANNUAL TEXT BALL IN CONJUNCTION WITH WORDSTOCK!
We're thrilled to announce that this year's Text Ball will be part of
Wordstock's lineup of literary events! The Text Ball is an opportunity
for Portland's rich literary arts scene to celebrate itself while
supporting one of its most beloved organizations, the Independent
Publishing Resource Center. Attendees are invited to come "dressed as
text" and compete for prizes for the most grammatically-correct
costumes. The theme this year is FIGURES OF SPEECH.
The evening will include a raffle and silent auction, and will culminate in a costume awards ceremony. The best costumes in literary categories will win prizes donated from local business and arts organizations, with a $100 grand prize. Local music phenoms, the Portland Cello Project, will perform music throughout the evening. The evening's fare will also include text-based food and games, famous speech karaoke, as well as temporary text-based tattoos.
The Text Ball will take place at Left Bank (just a few blocks from Wordstock) on Saturday November 8, 2008 from 7:30 p.m. till 11pm, with a pre-Text Ball cocktail hour from 6-7:30pm. Tickets are $10; all Wordstock participants are encouraged to attend for a discounted rate of $5. Tickets available at the IPRC or on brownpapertickets.com .
