ART 'N' PERFORMANCE STUFF: THIS FRIDAY

Installation, warm fuzzy fabric goodness, and performance featuring Eliza Fernand, Molly Enright, Mark Deutsch, and Gary Wiseman at Homeland. 8pm Friday June 20th @ Gallery Homeland, 2505 SE 11th, Portland OR.

Word from Gary Wiseman:

Please save the date this Friday for my show at Gallery Homeland, on
SE 11th & Division. Be there at 8pm, and you will still have time to
go out later....

Gallery Homeland hosts a night of multidisciplinary artwork and fun by
Eliza Fernand.  Interactive sculptures will be installed in, and
floating about the space.  A series of fabric-covered doorways called
Connect, entices viewers to engage in a gestural custom with one
another, and Floating Tube Clouds offer treats for the viewers seeking
a snack.  Voluptuary Pair is Fernand's first two-person performance,
she and performer Molly Enright will engage in a series of actions
with handmade costumes and transforming sculptures.  Following the
performance will be a special set by Dang Momma, the musical project
between Mark Deutsch and Eliza Fernand, with other talented guests.

The performance art of Eliza Fernand combines the reality of our time
and place with an abstract and fluctuating surreality. With her
costumes, performance objects, and her body, she transforms familiar
materials and reference points, leaving the audience with an array of
sensations to cling to.  She has performed at The Stone, Roulette
Intermedium, and the Bowery Poetry Club in New York City, at 21 Grand
in Oakland, and at various public spaces in Portland.  A graduate of
PNCA, Fernand now lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

WHO TO BLAME

New Oregon Arts & Letters is a 6' 1" tall former model, 38-22-36, bodybuilder, blonde, looking for a generous gentleman who likes chardonnay spritzers, walks on the beach, and soft jazz.

Whoops! Wrong ad. Seriously, we're an arts-media-lit organization formerly known as 2GQ. 2GQ was originally founded as a project of 2 Gyrlz Performative Arts in Portland. Confused yet? Good.

Anyway, New Oregon is a 501c(3) non-profit organization. We were founded in 2001, and our EIN number is #93-1313866. We have a Mission Statement, if you're into that kind of thing. Like, you know, words and stuff.

We have never been arrested for a capital crime. Our life goal is world peace, and when we grow up we want to be a veterinarian, because we love children.*
