PLAZM at WORDSTOCK
Jonathan Raymond, Tiffany Lee Brown, and Lidia Yuknavitch appear at Portland's festival of books on November 11th in PLAZM reading.
PLAZM magazine has brought words to the page with a bold, unusual vision since 1991. From artist/writer collaborations to revolutionary experiments in typography and design, PLAZM provides a platform for local and international art, design, and culture, along with nonfiction, creative, and critical writing. PLAZM presents a reading, video, and slides at the Wordstock Festival to coincide with the release of its 29th issue...
On Sunday, November 11, longtime PLAZM editor Jonathan Raymond and new co-editor Tiffany Lee Brown read works from throughout the history of PLAZM, accompanied by Joshua Berger's video of "every page of PLAZM magazine." A reading and slideshow on "The End of War," a recent project curated and edited by PLAZM, features Lidia Yuknavitch.
Raymond is the author of The Half Life, and a story called "Old Joy" that later became a film of the same name. He is an editor at PLAZM as well as an associate editor at Tin House. He contributes art reviews for Artforum, Bookforum, and other publications.
Brown, a writer and performer, is the author of A Compendium of Miniatures. She co-edits PLAZM and is the editor and director of 2GQ, a literary and performance manifestation of 2 Gyrlz Performative Arts. Her writing appears in UTNE, Bookforum, Gargoyle, Bust, Tin House, Willamette Week, and numerous anthologies.
Yuknavitch is the author of Her Other Mouths and Real to Reel, among other books, and is the organizer of The Writer's Edge Innovative Writing Workshops. She is an editor and co-founder of Chiasmus Press.
The PLAZM magazine reading takes place Sunday, November 11 at 5:00 pm at the McMenamins Stage in Exhibit Hall A of the Oregon Convention Center. Throughout the three-day festival, Plazm merchandise and information will be located at Booth 1030, near the children's center. Admission to Wordstock is $3.
