OPEN MIC FOR PERFORMERS AT SCRATCHPDX

ScratchPDX are calling themselves "Portland's performance lab" with their semi-open-mic-for-performers series at Hipbone Studio.  You just need to email them and explain what piece you'd like to do (2-10 minutes).

If you check out ScratchPDX and don't mind sharing what you saw or performed, email us at the current year @2GQ.org. For example, in 2001 you would contact us by mailing 2001@2GQ.org. Sorry for the convoluted email address procedure, there --- it's for spam reduction.

This email is a call for submissions for this season's opening of ScratchPDX, Portland's performance lab, which will play monthly (November-May) at Hipbone Studio on NE 18th & Burnside.  Opening show is on November 17.

ScratchPDX is an open stage for performers of all genres.  **See www.scratchpdx.com for photos from last season and other info.**
The mission is to provide a venue for a growing performance community in order to promote turning ideas into action, to play with concepts of performance, and to produce a stimulating environment for open exchange.  ScratchPDX offers: a venue, an audience, a host and minimal tech.  There will be beverages available for purchase.  Also, in line with our mission, there will be time each night for people to come together and talk.  We can't wait for your contribution.

Submission Guidelines:

Email: contact@scratchpdx.com
With the intention of providing a meeting ground for a growing Portland performance community, ScratchPDX is a place for people to experiment with their work, advance their practice, be inspired by the good, some bad and the unlikely performance and to talk about it all.  Seasoned performers and others stepping onto the stage for the first time are all welcome.  As a performer you may also invite feedback if desired.  We are opening the stage for 2-10 min slots for any kind of performance.  In the past, people have come with dance, storytelling, clown, puppetry, poetry, stand-up, short plays, improvisation, music...  If you are interested in performing please send your submission to contact@scratchpdx.com   Please include the type of performance and describe it in as much detail as you can at this point, including length.

I've attended Scratch twice, and been inspired to see other performances of artists I saw first at Scratch: Carla Grant's Sunclothed Woman and Caravan Gogh.

The great thing about Scratch is the friendly atmosphere. Everybody talks to everybody else, so you can meet a range of artists as well as the people like you who happened to come and be in the audience.

Scratch is alive. It's fun to be there.

WHO TO BLAME

New Oregon Arts & Letters is a 6' 1" tall former model, 38-22-36, bodybuilder, blonde, looking for a generous gentleman who likes chardonnay spritzers, walks on the beach, and soft jazz.

Whoops! Wrong ad. Seriously, we're an arts-media-lit organization formerly known as 2GQ. 2GQ was originally founded as a project of 2 Gyrlz Performative Arts in Portland. Confused yet? Good.

Anyway, New Oregon is a 501c(3) non-profit organization. We were founded in 2001, and our EIN number is #93-1313866. We have a Mission Statement, if you're into that kind of thing. Like, you know, words and stuff.

We have never been arrested for a capital crime. Our life goal is world peace, and when we grow up we want to be a veterinarian, because we love children.*
