Submission Guidelines
There's nothing we love more than having people submit. Oh yes. Continue reading this post for details, including how to buy a sample issue, how much work to send, etc. Would-be contributors who don't follow the Submission Guidelines will not have their work considered. Sorry.
SUBMISSIONS
2GQ is an ongoing experiment in literature, arts, and multidisciplinary happenings. We publish a print journal, currently on hold while we pursue more unusual book arts projects, and have presented various events, shows, and readings at the Enteractive Language Festival, Powell's, and elsewhere.
BUY SAMPLE ISSUE NOW: US $11 includes shipping and handling to anywhere in the U.S.A. or Canada. In other countries, please contact us to make arrangements. Click the "buy now" button to order a sample issue; allow 2-6 weeks for delivery.
1. TO BE CONSIDERED FOR INCLUSION IN OUR PRINT (OFFLINE) PROJECTS:
First, read our print journal. If you don't know what we publish, you have no way of knowing whether your work is appropriate for us. 2GQ is run by unpaid volunteers. We do this for the luv! So give us a break, please don't send in inappropriate stuff. Reading submissions takes up a heck of a lot of our time. Scroll down to buy a sample issue (or buy locally in Portland bookshops).
2. TO BE CONSIDERED FOR INCLUSION ON THE 2GQ.ORG WEBSITE:
First, read the website (espcially the "FREEZONE" section). If you don't know what we publish, you have no way of knowing whether your work is appropriate for us. 2GQ is run by unpaid volunteers. We do this for the luv! So give us a break, please don't send in inappropriate stuff. Reading submissions takes up a heck of a lot of our time.
3. OKAY, ON TO THE GOOD STUFF:
Submission by email only. Send email to the current year @2GQ.org . For example: in 2003, you would send mail to 2003@2GQ.org . Send your submission(s) either as text pasted into the body of the email; a plain text or RTF attachment; or as a MS Word attachment with no macros. WordPerfect and other formats will be deleted. Your work should be previously unpublished (this includes the Internet); exceptions are sometimes made, so tell us up-front if the work has appeared elsewhere. As payment, our writers receive a copy of the journal or book arts project in which their work appears.
Intro/Bio: Start with a short intro note that includes a bio--preferably an informative bio, not a cutesy/clever one. Be sure to tell us where you're located geographically, and whether you also perform your work, giving readings, doing performance pieces, etc. Let us know if you're sending simultaneous submissions (sending out this work to more than one publication). And specify whether you want your work considered for our print projects, the 2GQ webzine, or both.
Microfiction & Flash Fiction: We love these. Send up to 7 tasty morsels of verbiage, each one up to 500 words.
Short Fiction: Send 1 or 2 stories, with a grand total of under 6000 words.
Poetry: Maximum three pages. Micro-poems and little haiku-like snacks are cheerfully accepted. If you write in a range of styles or write about an eclectic mix of subjects, try to represent a variety of them. We'll write back asking for more if we suspect your poetry and our publications might be a good match for each other.
We look forward to hearing from you. Rock on!
I would love to submit to 2GQ. Tie me up?
